Australian aromatherapy, since 1989.

Springfields was founded in Sydney in 1989 by John and Jillian Kerr, at a time when aromatherapy was still in its infancy in Australia. It grew from their shared love of nature, and a belief that health and wellbeing can be sustained and nurtured by the beauty of nature.

John & Jillian Kerr

John Kerr was an academic in botanical medicine, specialising in essential-oil chemistry and clinical research into wound care. A sought-after lecturer, he presented at major aromatherapy and wound-care conferences around the world, and co-founded two internationally respected journals — Aromatherapy Today and The International Journal of Clinical Aromatherapy.

The company grew out of John and Jillian's passion for nature and their belief that wellbeing is nurtured by the beauty of nature. We continue to honour their legacy to this day.

From one belief to a botanical house

A short history of Springfields.

1989

Founded in Sydney

John and Jillian Kerr begin Springfields, built on essential-oil chemistry and a love of nature — among the pioneers of aromatherapy in Australia.

2003

First body & hair care

Our first aromatherapy body and hair care — naturally scented with our pure essential oils and free from parabens, sulphates and animal ingredients or testing.

2006

Certified Organic oils

We begin sourcing certified organic essential oils. Today the collection includes 13 certified organic essential oils, plus certified organic rosehip and argan oils.

2013

Organic skincare

After extensive R&D, our organic skincare collection launches with three facial series — Rose, Lavender and Neroli.

2016

Our own farm at Kulnura

We purchase a farm at Kulnura on the NSW Central Coast, to grow and extract our own botanical extracts.

Today

A broader botanical house
