An evening takes one of three shapes — people in the room, the bedroom, or wanting it quiet. Since 1989 we have been blending for all three.

• Sanctuary — Lavender, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Sweet Orange and Geranium. Floral and open; the one for a room where people are sitting.
• Sweet Dreams — Marjoram, Sandalwood, Roman Chamomile, Lavender and Rose Geranium. Herbal at the top, woody underneath. The bedroom one.
• Tranquility — Mandarin, Patchouli, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, West Indian Sandalwood (Amyris) and Australian Sandalwood. Woody-floral and quiet, with the citrus at the front.

Four to six drops in a diffuser, started half an hour before you want the room to have changed.
